When I first bought this camera, I thought it was too good to be true. I mean it's very cheap compared to other cameras with the same amount of options, and options it sure does have. There's five different flash modes for you to get the best looking picture possible, 3 different picture sizes, drop in film loading, the ability to imprint messages onto your pictures, and display of date and time the picture was taken on the back so it doesn't ruin it if you want to get enlargements. It's also very small and light, making it very easy to carry around. The quality is excellent, outdoing my old 35mm too. Overall a great camera. [...]

I have this camera and love it! I live in the mountains and take a wide variety of pictures and this camera can handle them all. The panoramic and landscape functions are particularly helpful. I also like that the camera has a function that prevents you from taking pictures when the lighting isn't good enough (green light flashes)or the subject isn't in focus(red light flashes). Keeps you from having terrible pictures developed! It is compact and lightweight but still has a realy large zoom lens. Great camera for all occasions...

"Camera never worked right, company totally sucky" 2000-02-15

My Yashica camera didn't work right from the get-go. My pictures came out blurry and dark no matter what speed film I used or what conditions my subjects were in. So, I sent the camera back to the company for repair. FOUR MONTHS later, they returned it to me with a list of all the things they "adjusted." But all the pictures I took were STILL dark and blurry, which means they either did nothing for four months, or they "adjusted" a few token things but didn't test it out to see if it was working right yet.

Either way, that's pretty cruddy behavior.

So, I sent the camera back AGAIN (with sample photos). This time, they didn't get back to me, despite the fact I sent TWO letters inquiring about the status of the camera. Finally, I called them and they said they had never received it.

Okay, so, good thing I sent it insured mail, right? But why didn't they answer my letters? Why didn't they repair it the first time around?

So, my review is: you can't trust the quality of this camera and you certainly can't trust the company to do anything for you if your camera is defective. Buy somewhere else!

I bought one of these for a 8 year old. It is really not suitable for for youngsters. The camera is difficult to open to load film, the film must be manually wound after each shot and the small knob for that is difficult to use. The flash must be turned on manually each time before you take an indoor picture. If you forget to turn on the flash it will let you take a picture but of course it will be too dark. You must also unfold a little handle and manually rewind the film when you are finished. I prefer the similar Kodak F310 for a few dollars more it has automatic flash and automatic film advance - still comes in see thru colors.

Geez, if there is a half-star rating here, i could have selected that one, giving this camera 1 star is too much i think... The pictures are all [bad]! no picture came out good at all... everything was blurred and every shot was so bright, everybody was white. No part of the pictures are in clear focus. Would return this camera right away. Olympus disappointed me on this one... I love olympus camera, had three 35mm Olympus cameras and they were all great. that's not the case when I switched to APS camera by Olympus.

I don't know if the Newpic Zoom 90 is better than this one. I called olympus and they said the I Zoom 3000 is better than the Newpic Zoom 90, because it is newer. I can't find any online store now that sells newpic 90 brand new, if there is, it is way too much expensive, but its reviews were cool.

This camera is NOT RECOMMENDED! stay away.

Every year I host a Christmas party, and somewhere between 50 to 75 people show up. Interestingly, although I take lots of photos, I never have any of the Christmas party, because I'm too busy playing "hostess" to take any pictures. This year, I bought a one-time-use camera, gave it to one of my friends and told him to take a picture and give the camera to someone else a few minutes later. By about midnight, all the photos had been taken, and I didn't have to do anything. This camera is great for this sort of thing because it's inexpensive and idiot-proof to operate. There are no options - just press the button to shoot and use the wheel to advance the picture to the next frame. The photos will come back with an index print and the negatives will stay in the film canister because this is an APS camera. I plan to use this camera at a lot of other busy functions, because it gives everyone a chance to record the evening's events, and I like the surprise aspect, 'cause you'll never know what will be on the film until you have it developed. Picture quality on this camera is satisfactory and the flash is strong enough to illuminate everything for several feet. Recommended for those times when your regular camera isn't appropriate because of size or cost.

This film works very good for beginner photographers. It allows an ample amount of light in so that even in dark situations your image shows up clear and not dimmed down. Example... I used this last Halloween in the evening to take pictures of my duaghter during trick - or - treating. Normally pictures come out black at night when outside, but this film has plenty of silver on it to allow flash bounce to brighten up the desired subject. This is a very small camera. But if you like first class pictures, this camera is probably not the best choice. In tele zoom mode the picture quality is ok. But in wide angle mode and especially with flash the corners of the pictures are gettig quite dark.

I got this camera because it's the lightest and smallest camera I could find with a zoom; a key for a climbing camera. It does not seem as rugged as some APS cameras and it doesn't have splash proof. I'm a little worried about dust and water but it's little size makes up for it. The zoom is an improvement over my last APS camera because it helps enlarge the size of the climbers on the rock. It fits in my shirt pocket with no problem and seconds as a nice travel camera. It takes decent picture in comparison to other APS cameras as well as all the other common features.

I bought this camera as a rush purchase to go on a weeked trip. Due the fact that my Kodak T550 was left at home. I know Aps cameras my not produce the greastest images blown up but I like them. I used my head and while I was there I took a test roll and got them developed at a local store in an hour. I was already uneasy with the half-way decent quality of the pictures then and by the time I went through 7 rolls of film I was really on edge. I got back home and over 60% of my pictures came out dull, underexposed, and just awful. So I took my negative to an additional two other film proccessors and some of my pictures came out better but not by much. I've only been taking pictures for 5 years and I don't claim to know it all, but I really have come to dislike this camera. The only 'strenghs' to the camera are its looks and the LCD glow-type button function. While it wasn't acting like a camera with astigmatism(which I have) the pictures came out great.

I try to stay away from APS in general. It was a gift from me for my mom since she wanted small easy camera with an average zoom. It's a simple design with suprisingly good picture quality. Automatic flash does the great job in mixed lighting environment. Pictures are sharp and crisp. Color saturation is outstanding. Even if APS film is limited and negative size is smaller than regular 35mm film I was really amazed by the quality. My mom who is not the most technical person had no problems operating the controls or loading the camera. It was a piece of cake for her in no time. Also very nice weatherproof box that came with the camera protected the piece in the rain. Leica did a really nice job and even if the camera is little bigger than elphs and nikon nuvis it is worth every penny.

I very rearly shoot with point and shoots I prefer medium format cameras as well as 35mm SLRs but about now Im thinking about getting one of those Leicas as my pocket snap shot/ location scout piece.

When I saw this camera for the first time I was probably the victim of irrational thought processes, seduced by the stylish minimalism and the Leica Logo of course.

However, after almost a year of use I have been really impressed by how easy it is to take good quality snaps. I always use good quality 400 and 800 film to avoid the use of flash and regularly load up with Kodak B&W 400 Advantix for excellent Black and white shots.

I have taken school sports day photos, holiday snaps, B&W panoramic landscapes on misty mornings in Cornwall and party snaps / candids and all types of photos between. The Leica performs without fuss, is easy to use, has incredible battery life and looks stunning. The case is virtually waterproof (heavy shower resistant anyway) and tough. The Fuji mechanism and lens is smooth and has never failed. Superb.

(I also use Minolta SLRs , Ricoh GR1s and Yashica T5 compacts and the Leica C11 stands up well in this company.)

I am not sure if it's the camera or ASP film but the pics the camera took were on par with a cheap 35mm camera. I tried ASP film from both Fuji and Kodak 100,200,400. Before this camera I had an Olympus Stylus Zoom. Now that was an excellent P&S camera. This is my first Leica, they are suppose to be good, but I don't know. The camera looks great, a little bulky but unfortunately I cannot recommend it.

I bought this camera the first week it came out because I thought it looked fantastic, and, well, I really like Leica cameras. This is my first APS camera and I really like it. It takes very nice pictures, although not on the same quality level as my Leica Minilux 35mm P&S, and it is very easy to use. Best of all, the auto focus system is very fast and accurate. If you want a stylish APS camera this one is worth considering. The quality is high, the finish is outstanding, and the feel is that of a very well made device. Although it is not as small as the Elph (Canon) it is a very portable camera that is fun to shoot. Too bad APS film choices are so limited :-( If you want super-high-quality images, however, I'd recommend a 35mm camera as the small APS negative size (24mm) will never match the 35mm in quality. For standard 4X7 images though, it is nice and the APS design is sooo easy to use (and store).

A first this appeared to be a good little camera brimming with functions. It takes nice clear pictures outdoor, but the flash is weak. The zoom is clumsy, jumping from one extreme to the other, giving more of an effect of 4 fixed focal lengths rather than a fluid zoom.

It's now broken haven taken the lightest of knocks on my last holiday. I don't know whether its worth repairing or whether I should take this a sign for a change. The battery life is poor (always keep a spare handy) and there's no mid-roll change.

Having said that, for the price, with minolta excellent optics and lenses, you could do a lot worse. It's light, compact and easy to use, with an excellent data-back.

After only a few rolls of usage my camera broke down. So far this is the 4th factory visit of my Vectis with the same problem. Indoor picture quality is horrible, but outdoor is very good. I bought for $299.00 when it first came out. Even at Amazon's low price I would not recommend this camera to anyone.

Very disappointed in this camera. It does not have mid-roll change and the flash is very weak and it does not cover the entire zoom range. Most of the pictures taken indoor using the zoom lenses came out very dark. Picture quality for outdoor day time shots came out decent.

I bought this camera with high expectations about two years ago...and have been riddled with problems ever since. I was hesistant to buy a Samsung camera, as this company is not very established in photography...but the features offered for the money seemed too good to pass up. When the camera does take pictures, they are of pretty good quality (except that the red-eye reduction frequently gets shut off by the brush of an unknowing fingertip)...but this happens rarely. From a month old the shutter would not open completely which ruined many shots...then a few weeks later, the drop-in loading became very tempermental. After a year of fighting with film...the camera decided to reject film altogether...leaving me stranded in Italy purchasing zillion-dollar disposables. ...

The film compartment became stuck open and I had to use a screwdriver to rewind the film to get it out. This camera is a great deal for the price. It features the APS film system and a great zoom lens [80mm] at a price that is less than many other manufacturers' non-zoom APS cameras.

The zoom is controlled and as powerful as one can reasonably expect. Generally speaking, the camera is both extremely easy to use and reliable. Used properly, it takes very good pictures. It is every bit as small as many much more expensive APS cameras, though it is a tad heavier than some. Overall, the Impax 300ix is a great bargain and an even better camera.

I bought the entry level elph camera something like 4 years ago. It's simple, direct and has only one lense setting. But over those years, this little camera has taken great shots. It makes everything look far away, as the lennse is almost wide angle. So for scenery, you get the entire view. However, for taking pictures of people, it is great at a close distance, as it opens fast and shoots faster. You can often "catch the moment" in a way that a 35 mm won't - especially as people see it coming. This camera, you just pull out of your pocket or fanny pack and snap a pix. It also has a pretty good and quick exposure caibration system, as the photos tend to be exposed just about right. So, for $45 it can't beat.

I currently bought this Elph. I think it is a good starter camera becuase it is so small. It has good battery life and is easy to setup and use. However for big people it may prove to be a little to small. But, overall this is a great Elph.

I've had this camera for 1 year and very pleased with the pictures it takes. Two vacations, a brand new baby girl and the expensive 35mm camera is collecting dust. Side by side with the elph, 35mm Olympus and 35mm Cannon this camera's pictures compare. It's so small and light you have to take it with you. Much lighter than the elph and easy to use. Two negatives, the buttons are small and the zoom is noisy.

The Olympus iZoom 2000 looks great- sleek, small, light and silver. Judging by the price I thought this would be a good camera, and small enough to take anywhere. Unfortunately I found out the hard way that this camera is by no means perfect. Every picture I have taken with this camera came out grainy and low quality, much worse than my cheaper Minolta Freedom camera I had before. Also, the viewfinder is tiny when you look through it so you can hardly see what you're taking a picture of... I asked a few other people about this, so it's not just me. It's also confusing to control the flash, etc. This camera is NOT WORTH IT, go for a higher quality Olympus or a Canon Elph if you want a compact camera that takes quality pictures. Dont waste your money on this one!

I luv the looks & compactness. But the pixs were grainy and very dissapointing.

I shot pixs on a clear & bright day on the beach and it looked like it was unfocused.

OVerall build quality is good. Easy instruction and ease of APS. But I expected more picture quality. It makes me long for 35mm.

I have bought this camera for Christmas as a present and to my surprise it did not work when we opened the Christmas presents. I returned it and bought another one just like it. This second one was a dissapointment as well; the zoom lens would never work and it would constantly shut off by itself. I would not recommend anybody to buy this camera. IT'S AWFUL!!

I purchased the Olympus iZoom 2000 to carry with me to catch those fleeting moments when you wish you had a camera. Overall quality is very good. Picture quality is fine, if not up to 35mm standards. One minor complaint is that the camera is normally in flash mode. You have to push a button twice to turn off the flash. Also - for photo enthusiasts - there is no data visible on the camera's settings for a given photo and no manual overrides. All in all, however, a nice package.

Not only is it convenient, light weight and all around very easy to use camera, I have found that it takes an exceptionally good close-up pictures of products that I would like to display on the Internet. Of course that's after I scanned them in and digitalized them.
I am happy to give up using my expensive, heavyweight, complicated 35mm manual setting camera for the same purpose with equally good results.

Very lightweight and cute. Will fit in your handbag (as mine always is!) ready for whipping out at the next opportune moment. :) easy loading and easy use. don't expect anything too fancy as it's quite a basic camera. perfect for keeping with you all the time. you can set the camera to say set messages on the back of each photo and it'll put in the time and date - on the back so your picture isn't obscured!

only problem i found is that the autofocus comes out and when you try to flip the lid down, the lid sometimes hit the autofocus - it doesn't do anything to the camera, but it might disturb the lens after a few too many hits. :( aside from that, it's a great camera. i only hope i don't encounter the same loading problems as i did with the C450. :(

This is a GREAT camera!The author is a serious advanced amateur, having two Hasselblads, a 4x5 rail camera, Canon EOS 3, Leica M3, 25+ lenses, etc. Did I mention a Nikon Coolpix 800? So, where does the C11 fit in? NOTHING is as small and light. This camera is about the size of a deck or cards! The lens is great for the 4x6 prints (if I want 16x20, there are better choices). But it is great for snapshots! Why is it better than the Coolpix? Better lens resolution AND the batteries aren't always dead!
The flash works well to about ten feet. You can just pick this up, turn it on, and take a nice photo in about three seconds. I have lots of cameras that can take good photos, but it takes half and hour to get ready.This camera is easy to hold (I really like the round bulge on the side, very gripable). All the unique APS features are present (panorama mode, date, mid-roll change, etc.).I bought this for my mother-in-law and had to get one for myself! You rarely go wrong with a Leica product; the C11 is another winner!

I have never had a single problem with this camera or ever lost a photo for any reason in three years of use. Highly recommended for APS pocket camera users and travelers. But be alert to setting the settings correctly though this does not cause failure. The red eye does not work very well but that is the only fault.

Pleasantly surprised at all the features packed in to this little, easy to use camera. Most importantly I am very impressed by the quality of the photos. This is my first aps camera and was not expecting very sharp pictures. Surprised and peased to say the pictures are great so far. Was deciding between the new Pentax or a Canon Elph 2. The Pentax is metal just like the Canon and has a 3x zoom lens for basically the same price. Very happy with my decision.

This is a great APS camera. Compact, light, feature-filled, and aesthetically appealing. I was also comparing the Minolta Vectis 300, as well as the Canon Elph line. What sold me was the power of the zoom on the Pentax. It has a 3x zoom, and although the Vectis 300 also has a 3x zoom; seeing first-hand, I felt the Pentax's zoom was a little better. Feature-wise, the Pentax lacks nothing to its competitors. Also, the feel of the camera is superb. Very lightweight and compact; easy enough to holster on belt or slip into pocket. To compare, I have a StarTac cellular phone, and the Pentax and StarTac are nearly identical in size!!! How's that for a compact, powerful, feature-pack APS camera...I would definitely recommend to all.

I am a camera fanatic, I own cameras of all kinds, point and shoot to an old clunky Nikon SLR, which still takes great pictures, but is heavy and a lot of time to focus, choose aperture,etc., so I graduateed to simpler formats a few years back and I now own four point and shoots, two of them APS. The Vectus falls in this last category and takes the sharpest and best pictures I have ever taken. That, combined with being the smallest and lightest weight of all my cameras, makes it my favorite. I love this camera! I compared the ratings with other cameras of same capabilities before buying this one, and this was the only one that had 5 stars and all owners gave it glowing reviews, but I am judging it now on my own observations and all I can say is the pictures I have gotten from it so far are far superior to the other APS camera that I own, and rank right up there with the ones I could get from my SLR's and with a lot less effort! Right now my Vectis is missing, I fear it has been taken by a young member of my family who visited me recently, and as it looks so much like a toy because of it's size, it probably would appeal to a child. But I am in the process of ordering another Vectis 3000, as I do not think I can find any other that I would be as well pleased with.....Very satisfied ex-owner of Minolta Vectis and about to be owner again!

An old fashion camera relative to today's digitals, but simply put it takes terrific pictures. It's my wifes camera as she does not want a digital. In fact it is a replacement for an earlier, identical camera which quit functioning last year. This is an APS cartridge, 24mm/25exp film, camera. It has excellent zoom, panoramic, mid-film removal and return,IR focus and may other user friendly features.

The downside is that it apparently is no longer made and replacments may be scarce.

Would buy it again.

After doing extensive research before making this purchase, we have been satisfied with the picture quality. The focus and colors are sharp. However, the flash malfunctioned after less than 6 months.

As far as ease of use, overall it is not bad, but subjects are difficult to line up in the viewfinder.

Compared to others on the market, it is loaded with features (as long as it works). We won't be buying another Fuji again in the near future.

A final warning to those considering the APS format- film and processing costs are considerably higher per roll vs. 35mm.

This will be my first and last APS camera. The quality of pictures is terrible compared with even a cheap 35 mm camera. The picture quality reminded me of the old Compact Disc cameras of the 80's. The main reason I bought this camera was to take panoramic pictures easily with the regular 4x6 size, but I have already sent this camera back for a refund. Instead, I decided to use my old 35mm zoom camera for the 4x6's and buy a disposable APS for the panoramics, because the picture quality is the same. Also, the quartz date didn't work on the front. The only thing good I can say about this camera was the small size.

My complaint is with the viewfinder. I, and everyone else who's used my camera, find it hard to keep the subject in sight. You have to keep moving it around to get the image back. Meanwhile, the bird you're trying to photograph has moved.
Also, it's awkward to have the flash pop up from the top left corner. You have to move your fingers out of the way.
Would I buy it again? Nope.

This camera has a 75 Millimeter zoom. It has red eye reduction, night mode, landscape view, and through window view special effects. It uses APS film (I personally suggest speed 200). It is small and can fit into a pocket. It comes with speed 200 tape and A comfortable case. You can additionally buy a remote control for family pictures. Also for large pictures you can make it so that they are long. I strongly reccomend this camera.

I recommend for those who like using APS cameras to first try the one-time use verisons before buying this one. I have used two one-time use Kodak Advantix cameras, 35 mm single use, Poloraid instant camera, and 28 mm or 110 Kodak Cameo Camera. But I seem to like having more options and this is what came up. However, the Olympus i Snap APS camera doesn't have the Panamoric view, nor the Print H type available...just the Print C type available and that is 4" x 6" print type available on this camera. I remember paying alot to have a few panamoric prints being processed and that didn't come cheap. So, if you want three Print types available, then buy a used Kodak Advantix Camera instead of this one. Also, I think the resulting prints depends on what brand name film cartidge you use, the lighting, and how the exposed film is temporaily stored before it is taken in to be processed.

Black and White photos were a disappointment--the color was all off. Enlargements were not sharp and landscapes or distance photos were ill defined. I'd recommend this camera to everyone. It's simple to use and makes a great entry camera for anyone that has been considering getting a new one. However, it still gives good results so even the demanding photographer can be pleased with what comes out. I've got a decent 35mm setup (body and several lenses, etc) but if I don't want to take it with me, this pocket size wonder is what I pick up.

The camera's layout is good, all the functionality you need, and the ease of use of and APS system camera. The zoom (about 35-80 in 35mm terms) has a good range and even the flash seems strong for such a small body.

It'd make a great gift for anyone.

Overall, if you want an APS camera, this one would be good. However, APS film is more expensive to buy and more expensive to develope (slightly), so I would look into a compact 35MM camera also. My camera performed well, but after a few years, the film slot won't open (jambed or something) , so I have abandoned it with a full role of film in it. Not worth fixing it.

I bought this camera 2 years ago because of its compact size, APS features and the Olympus reputation. It does take good photos, and has almost every auto feature one could ask for. However my camera has experienced very poor reliablity and excessive use of batteries, compared to other autofocus cameras I have owned (Canon Elph, Pentax IQZoom, Canon Telemax). Without much hard handling or outdoor use, it has been serviced twice (defective lens cover/on-off switch, and shutter button failed). The red-eye feature results in excessive flash lamp discharge, and makes it hard to pose subjects, and uses batteries faster. Olympus factory service for each non-warranty incident is $$. Needeless to say, I didn't have it repaired the second time.

I bought this camera in June 2000. Since then, over 2 years it has been returned for repairs 4 times! Each time the problems have been associated with the electrical system. The electrical system drains the batteries and eventually shuts down all of the functions of the camera. Perhaps mine is a dud. I have had 3 other point and shoot Olympus cameras, all were great until now. This one is a lemon. Besides that, I do not believe the APS system is particularly advantageous and would not purchase it again.

I bought this camera on the strength of the recommendation from the shop owner. Its very compact, weather proof and easy to use. However I am not altogether happy with it for the following reasons. (a) I don't beleive that APS is as good a film format as 35mm, (b) the buttons are not very ergonomic, (c) it can be difficult to keep the subject your are shooting in view when you depress the button due to the cameras small size. I would definately only buy this if you have small hands.

This is a 'beautiful' design and takes reasonably good pics. (It IS a point & shoot) but unlike all other APS cameras, it only takes pics in the "C" mode (the traditional size prints) NOT in the "H" mode (slightly wider) or the Panoramic. Why Fuji left this choice off Boggles the mind. The main reason I use APS is for the "H" size prints. I'm dissapointed this feature was left off.

I bought this camera a couple of years ago and it worked great and took great pictures until recently. First, it started to delay when taking pictures. I had to wait longer and longer, it seemed, each time I tried to take another picture. Then, I was rewinding the film that contained pictures of our son's first Christmas and the film got stuck in the camera. There is no forcing the film compartment door open and I stripped the gears on the door opener when I tried to pry it open. I ended taking it to a professional photo repair shop and spent $15 to have the camera taken apart around the film to save the pictures. I had to buy a new camera because this one is now worthless.

its easy to use, and the timer function is great for those priceless money shots.

I received this camera as a gift several years ago, and I haven't been disappointed. The Elph is a small, convenient camera with several great features, including the APS system, a timer, and a zoom lens. It takes incredibly sharp, clear pictures using any type of film. I only have two minor complaints: 1) an even longer zoom lens would be great, and 2) the manual doesn't do a good enough job of explaining the various types of flash modes. But overall, I recommend the Elph to any amateur photographer looking to take great pictures without a lot of hassle.

Every year I host a Christmas party, and somewhere between 50 to 75 people show up. Interestingly, although I take lots of photos, I never have any of the Christmas party, because I'm too busy playing "hostess" to take any pictures. This year, I bought a one-time-use camera, gave it to one of my friends and told him to take a picture and give the camera to someone else a few minutes later. By about midnight, all the photos had been taken, and I didn't have to do anything. This camera is great for this sort of thing because it's inexpensive and relatively easy to operate. It's a bit more complicated than the Kodak Access camera, because you can select print size between the three APS formats, whereas the Access model only gives you 4X7 pictures. Normally this isn't a problem, but if other people are operating the camera without supervision they may switch the format on you without being aware of it. If this is a concern, but you still want the option of different formats, I recommend looking at the Fuji Quick Snap Multiview APS disposable camera, because the format switch is under the lens, and people won't notice it unless they know how to use the feature. Of course, most photo labs will allow you to specify a format that all pictures should be developed in regardless of the format the picture was taken in. I usually specify 4X7, and have reprints done of pictures that I think would look good in panoramic format. The photos will come back with an index print and the negatives will stay in the film canister because this is an APS camera. Picture quality on this camera is satisfactory and the flash is strong enough to illuminate everything for several feet. I've used both this camera, the Kodak Access, and the Fuji APS disposables, and all are satisfactory. Recommended for those times when your regular camera isn't appropriate because of size or cost.

I give it a C+; better than average but not good. To be honest, I was disappointed. I haven't bought a camera in five years, so perhaps my expectations were out of line, but I expected more for my money.

My advice: if you can hold out a while for digital prices to drop, it'll be worth the wait.

I have had my Minolta Vectis Weathermatic for about 4 years and have used it mainly when sailing and around boats and beaches. It always produces good shots and has never let me down. I am on my 3rd battery which I think is pretty reasonable. I like it because it is chunky and solid and can take the knocks and drops. I have never used it underwater but it shrugs off immersion in waves and sitting on (and in) a hot, sandy beach.

I am looking at a digital camera (maybe the Olympus waterproof/shockproof) for the convenience and smallness of digital but am not sure that it will match my Vectis.

This camera has had a recurring problem wherein the "replace battery" icon flashes and the camera will not allow us to take any more photos - even after replacing the battery. This camera was purchased for vacation photos and three times now it has malfunctioned and needed repairs during the vacation, effectively making it useless. The zoom feature was previously repaired under warranty after minimal use. It took 3 months for Minolta to return the camera on that occasion. Our experience may or may not be rare, but it was bad enough to dissuade another purchase from Minolta.

I have bought it 4 months ago and I never no if the pictures will be good or bad. The flash seems very weak (or it may be a problem with the light reader) and indoor pictures are usually so dark they are not worthy. Outdoor pictures with good light are usually very good !

Underwater pictures also need good light. Indoor pools are not an option for UW pictures as flash is really weak.

I bought this Vectis Weathermatic after being an [other brand] user for 7 years. I work as an agricultural consultant and most pictures I take are outdoors. My [other camera] finally fell into an irrigation canal and I decided to replace it with a waterproof, shock resistant camera. But with my [other camera] I always new what to expect, with my Minolta I never now if the pictures will come out with good light or not.

Another CON: can't take pictures if object is moving (no matter if ASA 400) as it can't focus correctly.

Conclusion: this camera will probably last longer than my [other camera] but I will probably replace it before as I am not satisfied with the quality of the pictures.

I had this camera for about two years. At first the pictures looked ground-breakingly stunning. But like the other Advantix T series cameras, after about a year or so in use, the quality decreased.

Some of the pictures were tinted purple, pink, or sometimes blue. Then after another year the film compartment opening trigger broke, making it impossible to put in more film. Also, to top it of the film is sort of expensive.

I would recommend this to someone who wants a "temporary" camera while they search for a better quality one. It was good while it lasted.

I've had this camera for about 4 years and absolutely love it. I've taken this camera all around the world and have gotten great results from it. It also takes wonderful black and white photos. Not only does this camera take great pictures, it's compact and so easy to use. I bought this camera as an alternative to a disposable camera but has become so much more. I always have it in my purse in case those kodak moments come up and glad it's so small and light that it allows me to do so.

I've had this camera for two years and although it is compact and light - easy to carry around anywhere withought being a nuisance, I've had several problems with it. The picture quality isn't very good - my pictures oftentimes come out hazy (indoor and outdoor). Also, no matter which view I put the camera in - it also prints out in panoramic view. Quite annoying since I've never had a need for panoramic pictures. I probably would not buy this camera if had the choice now.

I bought this while on vacation without a camera, possibly not the best time to break-in a new one. When first 3 rolls were developed I was able to see a progression of clearer pictures and now I'm completely comfortable watching the flashing green light in the view-finder for the optimum photograph. The compact size fits in a jeans pocket while knocking around historical sites. The 3 photo sizes allow for a vast array of shots and the zoom is fairly quick to adjust before the subject gets tired of smiling for the picture. Automatic dating and even a memo can be programed to print on the back of prints.

My daughter has wanted a camera since she was 2 years old. I bought her this camera (the pink flower edition) just before she turned 3. She loves it. The size is great for little hands. For the most part I don't need to adjust her fingers to keep them away from the lens.

She also has a Chicco Smile Camera. That was is very easy to use, and slightly cheaper since it uses regular 35mm film. However, given a choice she'll go for the Nexia every time. I know she's drawn to the design, but I think she likes the size of it too.

If you have your own little budding photographer let them give this camera a try. I don't think you'll go wrong.

This is a great camera for beginners and shutterbugs who don't have the patience to deal with professional photographic equipment. The APS features are fantastic giving you the ability to capture the entire Harbor Bridge on panoramic, and change film instantly while hanging from a ski lift without concern for film exposure or proper placement inside the camera casing. Its zoom lens is quite long compared to other cameras of the same type and price range. My pictures have always come out clear and crisp. Its also very durable and the rubber grip on the side makes it easy to hold unlike other all metal casing cameras. I have even dropped it in a waterfall, and although it is not waterproof and I wouldn't suggest doing it, the camera still worked after the water drained out of it. If you can still get your hands on one of these cameras, go for it!

I bought the Canon Elph 490Z to use on my trip to Europe. While abroad, this camera was incredible. The Canon Elph 490Z is very tiny and lightweight (about 11 oz.), so I didn't hesitate about carrying this camera everywhere I traveled. Also, the camera's aluminum body handled very well during the trip; there were no breakage or scratches. Furthermore, the features of this camera were great. The 4x zoom lens enabled me to capture distant objects, while the parallax compensation viewfinder allowed me to more accurately capture objects up close. I developed 15 rolls of film from this camera. The photos look crisp and colorful, and there was no red eye in the ones with family and friends. I definitely recommend the Canon Elph 490Z!

This is a very well designed and compact camera. The Elph's well designed size allows it to fit anywhere, (i.e. handbag, pocket, and glovebox) easily and effectively. Therefore, you want to carry it more, and take far too many pictures. As a result, of Cannon using APS technology greatly enhances the clearity of the pictures, along with the additional processing price as well. The "H" setting or HGTV angle Cannon uses though greatly distorts the edges of picture, one is taking. Lastly, another negative I have encountered is the length of life the Lithium (Expensive) battery has a short life.

In spite of some of Elph's shortcomings, I am planning on purchasing a 2nd Elph for my mother, since it is a very convinent and easy to use device.

The user who complained of "red eyes" should note that there is a red-eye setting on the camera which eliminates these concerns. It makes decent enough pictures, and especially when compared to disposable cameras, you'd really be better off with one of these if you can find it for under $20.

APS cameras are really difficult to find these days, and they have their own pros and cons:

Pros:

- Three ratios for shooting (4x6in, 4x7in, 3.5x10in panorama).

- Loading film is easier than tying a shoelace.

- Index prints with every roll (so you can easily pick out snapshots to make reprints or to enlarge).

- Film is safer from the threats of overexposure, since it's enclosed.

Cons:

- Slightly more difficult to find film for than a 35mm.

- Smaller image area (by about 25%).

I've been reasonably happy with mine, and mostly used it on vacations or for general photography. There's no way I'd recommend this to anyone serious about art photography, so it's funny that the thing can actually be mounted on a tripod.

I purchased the camera in March 2000 and it stopped working promptly after purchase. I figured I'd give it the benifit of the doubt and had it replaced under warranty. Now that the warranty has expired the camera has stopped working again. It's a good litte camera for the money as long as you realize it may not last you very long.

This is a very small camera in size, but LARGE in capability. I consistently get sharp mages with this camera. It is quiet and very unobtrusive. The zoom is smooth and the flash has plenty of power when used with 200 or 400 film. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a camera to carry with them all the time.

I got this camera in 1998 at a flea market for $30, the guy said he never put a battery in it, so he didnt' even know if it worked, so I was possibly buying a camera that didn't even work. I decided to try it.
I've had the camera for 6 years and haven't had one problem with it...and now that I have 2 kids, it has been dropped, etc, and still works better than any (non zoom) camera I've ever had. There is a feature that you can put 5 sayings on your pictures, but i've never used it. This camera went to Italy with me, and has travelled many stated in the eastern US, and still stands up to everything. if anything ever happens to this camera, I will buy another of the same exact style!!

After 18 months of treating this camera like gold and being reasonably satisfied with the quality of the images (as long as they weren't enlarged), one day it just stopped working with the lens partially extended, frozen in place. All the repair shops want $100 to fix it. For $100 I could buy a new one. It was cute while it lasted, but I've bought a Yashica T4 (the original - not the awful zoom remake with the same name) instead. It's not nearly as small, but this elph is just too fragile.

What a great little camera!! I got this for Christmas last year and since it's so small.. I take it with me wherever I go. The picture quality is great. There are three settings to choose from for picture size and you can add the date and time if you wish.
I'm not a camera professional by an means but if you're looking for a great little camera, this is the one.

I got this camera as a gift, and I LOVE IT! The only problem is, I was a volunteer for a charity event and it got stolen. I'm currently looking for another one!
The Elph Jr. is small, light-weight and easy to use! It has three different picture sizes, including panoramic! The APS film is much easier to use and pictures come out clear as a bell! The reason I love this camera is because it's not bulky, fits nicely in my purse/back pack/pocket and takes pictures just like, if not better than all those bulky overpriced cameras! It has a number of different language selections as well! All around, a great Camera and a great buy!

My mom bought her C650 years ago, and I have to say I hated it from the beginning. It has a funny way of taking pictures - you can't just click the button - it has a delay and won't take pictures if the light is even a bit dim. The battery life has always been bad no matter what brand we used, so it must drain a lot. And it jammed with a filled roll once so this camera is really worthless. If I could, I'd give it negative stars. Save your money and buy another camera.

The first Kodak Advantix C650 camera I bought did not work out of the box, so Amazon replaced it. The second one I received produced lovely pictures (for about 2 months), but it stopped working in the middle of my Disneyland trip, forcing me to buy one-time-use cameras while there. I have sent the camera in for repair twice and it took 1-2 pictures before ceasing to function again. I lost the cost of the camera, two batteries, the cost of several one-time-use cameras, and the cost of shipping it twice. (I may try sending it one more time in sheer determination to get something for the money I've invested in it.) Although the pictures I took while the camera worked were of fairly high quality and I love the APS film options, this camera itself is of poor quality and it's a good thing it's been discontinued. I'm not likely to buy a Kodak camera again. Buyer beware.

I wrote a review for this camera shortly after I bought it, rating it 4 Stars. Now that I have used the camera for a year or two, I changed my rating to 5 Stars. I am no photo expert or camera buff; I am just a taker of snapshots, but I really like the C650. It is small, easy to load, easy to use,inexpensive to purchase, and I really like the APS format. The negatives are stored in the film cassett, and they can be stored in a book-like holder so that I can easily find the negatives when I want them, and I really like the wide-screen format of the pictures. It proably costs twice as much to use the APS film vs. 35 mm, but I think it's well worth the extra money (how much does one really spend on film & developing anyway?), and though I have a 35mm camera that I bought around the same time as the Kodak, I now use the Kodak exclusively.

This is the only APS camera that I have ever used, and there are probably some that I would like better, but so far I am well pleased. I just hope that the APS format doesn't go the way of the disc camera.
